Hit Air brings motorcycle airbags to market

Hit-Air have announced a few airbag systems for riders.

Despite the somewhat dubious "How it works" graphic above, I don't recommend trying this out with a spot of naked riding.

The deployment system uses a tether attached to the bike. When the biker leaves the motorcycle, the tether tightens and then triggers a gas cannisted inside the system to trigger the airbag. When deployed, airbags inflate up the riders spine, across the ribs, over the chest, around the neck and even across the hips giving the Hit-Air system very comprehensive coverage.

Hit-Air are offering the system built into a whole line of jackets and vests, including sportbike jackets, touring jackets and all weather jackets. More info at their website.
