Almeria or Andalucía in the south of Spain is an alive and gorgeous region to visit during Spain holidays. It is a land of mesmerising beauty with some of Spain’s most pristine beaches, green hills, white villages and huge nature reserves. Nearly one-fifth of Andalucia is covered with well protected natural environmental reserves. Moreover, Andalucia boasts of being home to the tallest towering mountains in Spain. During your holidays in Spain, you could choose to enjoy the panoramic view of this beautiful snowcapped highest mountain range in Spain, the Sierra Nevada. Andalucia holidays will give you chance to experience Spain at its most traditional best, yet imbibing aspects of the modern world. In Andalucia, you would be dazzled by the sparkle and shimmer of the lively spirit of the Spanish, and soon find yourself revelling in it!

Spain, as we all know is the ‘Queen of Carnivals’!! Usually, Spain celebrates Easter with festive carnivals, with February being the month with all the fun and recreation. However, luckily for all in 2011, when Easter falls between 17-24 April, every town and city in Andalucia will be abuzz with festive fun commencing from the beginning of March from 3rd to 13th. The festive carnivals of each town in Andalucia are distinctive with processions or cabalgatas, concerts, fiestas, and most importantly fancy dress, with competitions, parades and the elected Carnival King and Queen. The province of Cadiz is especially well-known for its colourful carnival, Malaga holds an extravagant song and dance show which lasts for four weeks and Huelva hosts the Colombian carnival. If you plan to have a restful holiday in Spain while participating in all the great Spanish traditions, it might be a good idea to live in Marbella villas, Marbella apartment or a hotel en Marbella, not very far from the town centre.

The high light of your Andalucia holidays would be the ‘Flamenco’, which is well presented at the Jerez Festival, a feast of singing, dancing and strumming guitar strings. There are Tango workshops, being held from 27 February to 4 March as well as exhibitions, at locations including the Centro Andaluz de Flamenco. So flamenco enthusiasts ought not to miss the highlights during their Andalucia holidays, including La Farruca (26 February), Miguel Poveda (5 March) and Eva Yerbabuena's company (12 March). For those interested in the arts, during your holidays to Spain, you may choose to visit the Cordoba Photography Bienal, while those interested in post-modern literature, might choose to head wards Seville, for a rare chance to see Samuel Beckett's audio-visual works. It is simple to find accommodation in Almeria or Andalucia, through a user friendly website that connects holiday home owners directly to travellers, without charging commission. So one can find accommodation in an Almeria hotel, Almeria villa, hotel in Andalucia or even Andalucia villas that offer excellent value for money. Booking a less expensive apartment or villa in Almeria would free up cash to spend making it cheap holidays in Spain and yet packed with all the fun and excitement!!

The main regional event held in this month in Andalucia is the Dia de Andalucia on 28 February. This festival commemorates the 1980 referendum which gave Andalucia its autonomous status. The green-and-white flag flutters everywhere on Andalucia Day, hanging from balconies, waving from flag posts on town halls and is even painted by people on their faces! Most people in Andalucia have a far stronger loyalty to their region than to their country, although the World Cup 2010 ignited Spanish pride like never before. Children celebrate in their schools on the previous Friday 25th with special parties, eating a regional breakfast of orange juice and toast with olive oil, learning about local history and singing the Andalucian hymn.

Another place worth visiting in Andalucia is Mojácar, which has the deepest Moorish roots in all of Spain. Mojácar has rich architecture, lovely whitewashed houses and warm people, who have inherited understanding and sympathy from their forbearers. Perhaps one result of this continuous mixing of cultures and religions is the INDALO - or 'Mojácar man'. This magical totem brings protection and good luck, and in the past was painted onto the fronts of houses to ward off the 'evil eye'. The original totem is thought to be around 4,500 years old, and the earliest known one appears among other prehistoric paintings in a cave in Velez Blanco. The figure might be interpreted as a man holding a rainbow between his outstretched arms, a symbol that today signifies the whole province of Almería. Finally, whether Mojacar interests you with its unique historic charm or all you are seeking is relaxed beach holidays in Spain, this is the right time of year to plan your trip. While prices are low and ample Spain villas still available to choose from, you may start online by renting your Moraira villas, Marbella villas or booking your bed and breakfast hotel en Almeria, hotel en Marbella, Mojacar hotel or hotel Andalucia, at the earliest. Booking your flights in advance will also save you money, unless you are planning to drive down…Once you have the dream of looking forward to Spain for holidays this Easter or summer, you will find time flying by, and a happier spring in your step!! http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/spain.htm
