Tips on Transporting and Shipping Your Motorcycle

Tips on Transporting and Shipping Your Motorcycle

Sometimes riding your motorcycle by means of transporting it is not always an option.  Whether it's just not manageable or you need to transport your bike after purchasing online or while re-locating and moving there are a few things to keep in mind when shipping your motorcycle:

Thoroughly clean your motorcycle and document any dings, scratches, or cosmetic damage.  Also take pictures of the current condition of the bike priot to the move

Drain the gas and secure any pieces that could snap off or become damaged during the move.  Drain the gas a few days prior to the move if possible and check with the shipping company you will using to see if you will also need to remove the batter (some may require this).  Remove and/or secure accessories or loose items such as side mirrors and saddlebags.

Research the shipping company you will using.  Be sure to research the shipping company you plan to choose online.  Read reviews and feedback given from customers who have used their services before.  Be sure to that once you select a shipping company you also provide them with the current condition of your bike and any and all mechanical problems it may have.

Always use a shipping company that holds the proper insurance coverage.  Ask for proof of their insurance prior to committing to their services
