Help corner DVLA

Help corner DVLA

The DVLA has yet to agree to an MCN proposal which could end the fiasco of lost motorcycle licences despite a petition backing the call.    * Click here (http://www.gopetition.co.uk/online/29956.html) to sign the petitionOur proposal could end the shambles in which riders have been made to retake their test after being sent a replacement licence with motorcycle entitlement missing. It calls for old licences to be returned with the corner cut off so victims will be able to prove a mistake has been made.  Our idea already has the backing of Conservative Shadow Transport Minister Robert Goodwill and Lib Dem Shadow Transport Secretary Norman Baker. And hundreds of you signed a petition calling for the move within hours of it appearing on this site. But a DVLA spokesman would only say: “We’re considering it and will get back to you. I’m not going to commit to a timeframe.” The Agency was also under pressure from the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF).In a letter to DVLA Chief Executive Noel Shanahan, the BMF’s Chris Hodder wrote: ‘I can see no logical reason why this plan should not be implemented. There is virtually no cost involved, the DVLA would no longer have to destroy old licences and if there are any errors they could be quickly resolved by comparing old with new.’Adam James, from Chelmsford, the 150th person to sign our petition, wrote: ‘A simple solution to a ridiculous problem. Adopt this change now and save people the inconvenience of unnecessarily retaking tests.’Add your name at www.gopetition.co.uk/online/29956.html
