Hydroplane

This is caused when the wheel meets a plane of water at high speed. The ridges and grooves in the motorcycle tyre are unable to remove the water from between the tyre and the road and the motorcycle is left without grip - the motorcycle ends up riding on water which can be a very dangerous situation. If you ever find yourself in this situation, try not to make any movements or changes in direction or speed. Concentrate on balance (don't touch brake or throttle) until the hazard has passed and you have slowed sufficiently to increase grip.
