Opinions on new invention

Hi all. Just wanted to gauge some opinion on an invention I have completed and im touring various forums to get reaction to it.

Any comments would be appreciated, whether it be to tell me you would never use it or saying it would be something you would be interested in.

Basically I have now fully finished and manufactured a Bike cover that delivers a trickle charge to the battery of a motorbike or scooter using solar power. The covers are fully customisable and available in a wide range. Obviously the ideal market would be bikers who arent using there Bikes everyday and therefore cant always rely on there battery being as relaible as one used regularly. Also anyone who finds they are constantly having problems with dead batteries could find these very useful.

How many people on this forum would find this useful and how many would find it essential for there needs, and by the same token how many think its an idea that will not take off and not somet

Hi Ryan

Welcome to the forums!

Sounds like an interesting concept you have there. I have few questions though...

Solar panels don't come that cheap, what RRP are you aiming for?

What kind of security does it have? As it's likely to be considerably more expensive than a normal cover, it's more likely to be nicked. Have you any integrated chain / security?

I personally don't see much of a market to be honest mate, any regular rider will recharge the battery through the alternator. Anyone who lets their bike sit around all the time until it's dead can't be considered a serious rider... therefore reducing your chance of sales.

Have you got any photos of it in action?

J

Hi and thanks for your input. At moment the covers we are having manufactured have a simple lock attachment and o ring for personal. Padlocks but we certainly need to look at improving security side of product and are doing so. The rrp is set at 90.00 ar moment but at this early stage price we are looking for pays second fiddle to actually getting interest in product and getting it right.
We do have pics and a Facebook page but typically I' have no idea what site name is I will get that info and pics on here tomorrow if people want to see it

Assuming this product is for people that leave their bikes outside? And if so, then how do you secure the cover to the bike so the actual cover doesn't get stolen. It's one thing to replace a cover when kids bugger off with them that cost a tenner from the BMF, I'm going to assume that yours will cost a little more than that? :)

If it is marketed for outdoor bike storers, then I would say it's a limited city market.

Mine is kept indoors when not being ridden and generally doesn't get any light, so not sure how it would help me.
